PITTSBURGH — An employee of a McDonald’s restaurant was charged Wednesday with selling heroin in Happy Meals to customers using the coded request, “I’d like to order a toy.” Allegheny County authorities made the arrest after an informant told them that an employee was selling the drug at a McDonald’s in the East Liberty section of the city.
Customers looking for heroin were instructed to go through the drive-through window and say, “I’d like to order a toy,” said Mike Manko, spokesman for District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. The customer would then drive to the window, hand over the money and get a Happy Meal box containing heroin in exchange, Manko said.
Undercover agents set up a drug buy and arrested Shania Dennis, 26, of East Pittsburgh. Dennis denied wrongdoing to reporters as she was being led away in handcuffs. Authorities said they found 10 bags of heroin in a Happy Meal box and recovered another 50 bags from the suspect.
A Georgia woman has been fired from a fast food joint after a customer found an unexpected topping in her cheeseburger: a half-smoked marijuana cigarette. Amy Seiber, 32, is no longer an employee at Wendy’s Lovejoy store after admitting to police that she ‘misplaced’ the joint inside a burger – after smoking half of it at work.
The customer Shalon Travis, 39, called police after discovering the marijuana in her burger, placed right on top of the pickle. The police report states that Travis had picked up a Wendy’s single cheeseburger combo from the drive-through window of the 11121 Tara Boulevard Wendy’s around 10:30 pm November 1.
‘Upon arrival at home, she took her food out of the bag and noticed a strange odor in her hamburger,’ Officer Gaddis told the Atlanta Constitution-Journal. ‘When she opened it, she discovered a partially smoked marijuana cigarette.’She was admitted to hospital after suffering symptoms similar to food poisoning.
According to TMZ, Seiber owned up to the marijuana mishap as soon as police arrived at the Lovejoy Wendy’s. She was arrested for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
The customer told TMZ that the Wendy’s franchise offered to help with Travis’ medical bills. ‘Obviously the employee broke the rules and did not follow proper food handling steps… We are deeply sorry that this incident occurred,’ a Wendy’s spokesperson told TMZ. The company also provided the customer with a $50 gift certificate for Wendy’s, though after her last experience it’s unclear if she plans to use it. Seiber was able to bond out of the Clayton County Jail.
A couple having sex in a Georgia Waffle House parking lot was busted on Sunday, according to police. But that isn’t even the weird part.
Loganville authorities said the woman was so drunk that she tried to put a cheeseburger on her foot as if it were a sandal. “I guess that would speak to her level of intoxication,” Assistant Chief of Police Dick Lowry told The Huffington Post. Lowry said the fast food-as-footwear was a first for him.
Rachel Gossett and Frank Lucas were cited in the Nov. 3 incident for public drunkenness and loitering. According to the police report, Lucas blew a .154 into the breathalyzer and Gossett .216.
The two avoided an indecency charge because the pickup truck was in the back of the lot, and their tryst wasn’t so obvious to the public, Lowry said. However it was noticeable enough for someone to complain.
When an officer arrived, he ordered them to put on clothes and show their licenses, the report said. “When the female finally got dressed she attempted to put a cheeseburger on her foot as if it were a sandal,” the officer wrote.
The two face a Jan. 16 court date. Presumably shoes, not strapless meat sandwiches, will be mandatory.
